The Children’s Wish Foundation

Children\'s Wish Foundation

Every child enjoys an enhanced quality of life including the experience of laughter, shared joy and memories with the important people in their lives.

Established in 1984, The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is a national non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling a favorite wish for children diagnosed with high-risk, life-threatening illnesses. Since its inception, Children’s Wish has granted over 13,000 wishes for children and their families and fulfills approximately 900 wishes annually across Canada — each being an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of that particular child.

For a child whose wish is about to be granted, the pain and discomfort of the illness, and often harsh treatment regimes, somehow becomes more bearable. For many, the excitement of planning and anticipating their dream has a dramatic effect on their healing. These courageous youngsters often experience a renewed sense of energy and hope as they see a different kind of light at the end of the tunnel.

  1. I am the grandmother of a 15 yr old who has incurable synovial cell sarcoma. He will be traveling to Hawaii with his family in late June compliments of the Make A Wish Foundation here in the United States. It is true that the anticipation he feels knowing this fun time is ahead helps to offset the pain and hardships of the disease process. Keep up the good work. And kudos to Sky for her bike ride.
